Dr. Jaap Verbaas, PhD

Dr. Jaap Verbaas is a seasoned geologist with extensive expertise in field geology, specializing in orogenic gold and Iron Oxide Copper Gold (IOCG) deposits. His work encompasses both brownfields and grassroots exploration, with a strong focus on modeling geological processes such as alteration, metasomatism, igneous fractionation, accumulation, and metamorphic petrology. Dr. Verbaas also possesses significant capabilities in structural geology, geochronology, and technical terrain analysis. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Structural Geology and Metamorphic Petrology from Utrecht University, followed by a Ph.D. in Proterozoic Geology of the Yukon Territory from Simon Fraser University. This robust academic foundation, combined with his hands-on experience, equips Dr. Verbaas to identify and capitalize on valuable geological opportunities in the industry.

James Reid, CPA, CA

A founding director of Miata, Mr. Reid was appointed Executive Chair effective October 1, 2026 (release). He is currently a Managing Partner at Three Peaks Capital, a merchant bank based in Vancouver, BC. Prior, he was an Investment Advisor and Institutional Sales representative at Haywood Securities Inc. in Vancouver, BC. He served as a publishing research analyst prior to this, with a focus on Diversified Industries and Special Situations. Mr. James Reid is a CPA Charterholder and earned a B. Comm from McGill University. Mr. Reid has deep capital markets and accounting experience in various capacities, including financial modelling, valuations, equity research, capital raising, and transaction structuring.

Danny Matthews, JD

Mr. Danny Matthews is a Managing Partner at Three Peaks Capital, a Vancouver-based merchant bank focused on public and private company formation, financing and strategic transactions. Mr. Matthews has extensive experience in corporate finance and capital markets and has served as a founder, executive and director of a number of public companies.

Prior to co-founding Three Peaks Capital, Mr. Matthews practised corporate and securities law, with a focus on stock exchange listings, equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate transactions. He holds a Juris Doctor from Western University and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.

Danae Voormeij, MSc, P.Geo

Danae Voormeij is the principal consultant for Mynah Exploration Inc. She has over 20 years of experience exploring for gold deposits across the African continent, South Pacific and the Americas. She led the geological team that discovered Tuzon, a multimillion-ounce greenstone belt gold deposit, in Liberia, West Africa, for AIM-listed Hummingbird Resources, and she has published a well known textbook on how to explore for gold in tropical landscapes. She has designed, budgeted and managed gold exploration programs with up to 100-man camps, running three drill rigs year-round. Ms. Voormeij is a registered professional geoscientist with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) since 2007, and is a fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG).

Derk Hartman

Derk Hartman is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in the mining and banking sectors, specializing in project development and capital markets. He previously worked in investment banking at BMO Capital Markets in London, advising mining companies on project finance and M&A transactions. He has deep knowledge of Suriname, having helped introduce modern exploration to the Sela Creek and Nassau gold projects in 2013. A founder and former director of Awalé Resources, he currently serves as CEO of Green Metals Refining Ltd., and has previously held senior leadership roles at Giyani Metals and Silver Bear Resources, where he helped finance, develop, and bring the Mangazeisky Silver Mine into commercial production.
